What is the Cooperative Parish Ministry?
For many local congregations, standing alone can feel like an isolated struggle against diminishing resources and sizing challenges. But we were never meant to walk this road in isolation.
Cooperative Parish Ministry is a intentional, strategic model rooted in our original Wesleyan DNA and supported by the 2024 United Methodist Book of Discipline (¶ 206.1). Instead of operating as standalone entities, our churches form a shared circuit—pooling our unique spiritual gifts, financial resources, and collective energy. This shifts our perspective from localized scarcity to regional abundance, unlocking a deeper pool of leadership and pastoral care so we can better serve our wider community and make disciples of Jesus Christ.
Who We Are: The 5 Churches Working Together
The Lakes Region Cooperative Parish Ministry is a beautiful tapestry woven from five unique local faith communities across our area. Together, we are valued, empowered, and equipped to build God’s Beloved Community:
- Gilford Community Church – Bringing a deep commitment to local fellowship, neighborhood outreach, and community care right in the heart of Gilford.
- Plymouth United Methodist Church – Offering a rich history of faithful discipleship, vibrant study, and a welcoming hub for the wider community.
- Trinity United Methodist Church (Weirs Beach) – Serving as a historic beacon of hospitality, warmth, and grace along the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee.
- Alexandria United Methodist Church – Anchoring our collaborative mission with a dedicated spirit of prayer, deep roots, and close-knit community care.
- Ashland United Methodist Church – Bringing passionate hearts for hands-on mission, shared fellowship, and specialized gifts to our collective ministry.
